Lower Back Herniated Disc Pain Relief with Dr Ekberg
Hello I'm Dr. Sten Ekberg and this is Tony.
And he has joined us to share a little bit about his experiences in this office, so Tony
you want to tell us.
It was your low back primarily right?
It was in the lower center of my back where I had chronic pain primarily when I was standing.,
Okay and that you said that first started back in the 70s?
Yea I used to work in a steal mill and I hurt my back working on the furnace and I had a
herniated disc and different I had some injections back then but it seemed like it resolved itself
over the next 20-30 years, but as I started to age the back pain started to return around
2000 and I went to see an orthopedic surgeon and he did the surgery and that seemed to
help for awhile, but then it returned and went to see another chiropractor had some
injections helped for just a short period of time but then it returned again.
Which lead me to your office.
Okay.
So when you came in here you had back pain for the most part for about 15 years?
Yes.
Tell us what happened when you started here.
Well when I came here you explained your methodology and how basically we are working with the
brain to try to help it be retrained in terms of the pain that is being generated by your
body and so i thought that was really intriguing and i was a little bit skeptical I remember
our first discussion you said Well the proof is in the pudding and so lets just give it
a try and see what happens, so I know that there is a lot of things we don't understand
about the body and the brain so I was willing to give it a try and your back ground in knowing
about the body with your athletic career was also very compelling information for me to
come here so we gave it a try.
Very good.
So how many visits before you started noticing some significant changes?
I would say probably within maybe 4-6 visits.
Okay.
I think I was coming 3 times a week in the beginning so within 2-3 weeks I started to
tell that things were subsiding.
And now the pain is gone?
It's pretty much gone.You know I'm a 61 years old and my body has gone through some wear
and tear over the time so if i sit too long or lay on the wrong mattress or do anything
that causes discomfort for most people it is problematic but once I am up and moving
